Adjectives and the Words They Modify

An adjective modifies a noun or a pronoun. An adjective tells what kind, which one, how many, or how much. 

  • WHAT KIND green eyes, French perfume 
  • WHICH ONE these pencils, last page 
  • HOW MANY six erasers, few pennies 
  • HOW MUCH some sand, enough sauce 

A, an, and the are the most frequently used adjectives. They are called articles.
